Frank Gaffney, president of the Center for Security Policy, conservative radio host, and former Reagan administration official, came to The Commonwealth Club earlier this year to talk about shariah law. He expressed his fears that it was quickly spreading fundamentalist Islamic law around the world.

Frank Gaffney represents "American Values"?
Who pulled the wool over the Club's eyes when Gaffney, subsidized under an "American Values Series," was allowed to speak as an authority on "Shariah Law: A Threat to America"? In a blurb he asserted that Shariah is "a law that requires its adherents to engage in holy war," that it in effect condones warmongering.
This smacks of the kettle calling the pot black. Gaffney, sponsored by a foundation for promoting Jewish Life & Culture, started politics as an assistant to Richard Perle (need I say more!). He founded the Center for Security Policy in which Cheney, Rumsfeld, and Douglas Feith were active and was also a founder of the Project for the New American Century, most of whose neocon members fitted the definition of warmongers. They called for the US to dominate the world militarily and a Greater Israel to dominate the Middle East.
In fact, Jason Vest in The Nation cites Gaffney's relentless support" for Israel's colonization of the rest of Palestine. Gaffney even called moderate Palestinian Pres. Mohamad Abbas "the Islamofascists' ally."
This epitome of American Values(?) also had this to say about new President Obama in June 2009:
"The man now happy to have his Islamic-rooted middle name featured prominently has engaged in the most consequential bait-and-switch since Hitler duped Chamberlain over Czechoslovakia at Munich...
"With Mr. Obama's unbelievably ballyhooed address in Cairo to what he calls 'the Muslim world', there is mounting evidence that the president not only identifies with Muslims, but actually may still be one himself."
Who will the Club invite to follow in Gaffney's footsteps, David Duke, Ann Coulter?
While this pitiful representative of American Values was given the honor of speaking before the Club, a year ago the Israeli lobby made sure that a real representative of American Values, Dr. Paul Larudee, was forbidden from speaking on successfully breaking the illegal Israeli siege of Gaza in August 2008.
